My Sponsored Child

Then children were brought to Him that He might lay His hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked them, but Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  - Matthew 19:13-14

Kassia 2002

Kassia 2001

Kassia Janayne de Oliveira E Souza is the young girl I sponsor from Brazil.  I decided to do this because I think every child deserves a opportunity to have a good solid education, to be able to develop their full potential and most importantly develop a relationship with Christ.

Here is a little about Kassia.  She lives with her stepfather and her mother. At home, duties include running errands. Her stepfather is employed as a project worker and her mother maintains the home. There are 4 children in the family. Rolling a hoop, singing and playing house are Kassia's favorite activities.

In primary school her performance is average and she also regularly attends Bible class.

This whole thing works though a company called Compassion International.  This is a Christian child sponsorship program, which gives individuals the opportunity to sponsor a child and change their lives forever..  It don't cost much, only $29.00 a month.  I think it's a very rewarding thing, knowing that I am helping this young girl.

I am a big fan of Michael W. Smith.  I enjoy his music, and his music always ministers to me.  I saw one of his concerts a few weeks ago.  And during the show he talked about Compassion International.  So I thought I'd check out their website, as I browsed though the different  children, I was just drawn to Kassia.  The Lord put a heavy burden on my heart for her.  So I decided to sponsor her.

Michael him self has sponsored a child and  has watched her grow and even got to see her graduate from high school.  For Michael's story on his sponsored child, click HERE!  If you would like to help a child in need or would like some more information on this program check out their website by clicking HERE.
