A Friend
by Rachel Joy Scott

A friend is someone who can
look into your eyes and be able
to tell you if your alright or not
A friend...
A friend is someone who can
Say something to you
With out you telling them
Anything and their words hit
The spot
A Friend...
A friend is someone who can
Brighten your day with a simple
Smile when others try to do it
With a 1,000 words
A friend...
A friend is someone who can
Reach out their hand
and help you thru the hurt
A friend...
A friend is someone who can
help me and talk to me the way you do
And in you I have found a friend!

Wow, where do I begin.  I could write a whole book on why Rachel is such a awesome friend and inspiration to me, but I won't. hee hee!

I never knew Rachel while she lived on this earth, but her life and the way she lived has touched my heart and life.  She's like the best friend I never had.  I admire so many things about her but the thing that always touches my heart the most when I think about her, is her love and compassion toward people. I was never popular in high school, people would pick on me and call me names. I was your typical loner, but when I hear how Rachel used to reach out to people like me in her high school, it touches me to the very core of my existence.  There have been so many times I've heard stories about how she's reached out to people, and it touches my heart.  I cry sometimes when I think about all she she's done and how she's touched people's lives. Oh how I wish I had known her, I wish I had a friend like her in high school.

Even though I didn't know her, she touches my heart.  Her smile can lift my sprits when I am sad.  Her writings can inspire me, when I need to be inspired.  She shined so brightly for Jesus that I see Jesus smiling though her as I see her smile, and that blesses me.

I know someday that I will meet her, when I get to heaven.  I know she's there waiting, and when I get there, I am going to hug her and cry my eyes out and look into her eyes and say "THANK YOU."

I know she's with me, in my spirit and in my heart and watching over me from above.  I got the rare opportunity to actually hold her journals and read them.  It was a very special time for me and I will forever be thankful to Michael (webmaster for racheljoyscott.com) for that. That is something so special to me because Rachel's journals were very dear to her, it was her heart and soul.  And I took a part of her with me after reading them.  I like to think of her as my guardian angel that watches over me.

I love you Rachel Joy Scott.  Thank you for touching my heart and soul with your joy.  You make the heavens shine even all the more brighter.  I can see you now, dancing with joy for evermore in the presence of our Savior Jesus Christ.  I miss you and wish that I could have met you in this life, but I know someday we will indeed meet.  See you on the other side, someday!

Joey and Malinda Taylor
Malinda and Joey Taylor
Malinda and Joey Taylor are a total blessing.  I met Malinda though the Texas Treasure.  At the time she was working there in the ticketing office.  She had contacted me about my Jennifer Pena site and in the e-mail she mentioned something about the ship.  I found out she worked there and we eventually met. Shortly after we met I got to meet her husband, Joey.   Since that day, we've been my best friends.

They've helped me though some of the roughest times in my life.  When I broke up with Doris, I was a wreck.  Malinda was there to listen, and to just have a shoulder to cry on.  And Joey made me laugh.  He is one of a kind.  He can make you laugh and feel good even when you feel like crap.

You guys rock my world and I am so thankful that you are in my life.  Thank you for the laughs, thank you for memories, thank you for being you!!  I love you all so much!

My friend Heather
Heather
Heather also known as Tish and Morticia Raven is one of my newest friends.

If you've been to the other areas of my site, you will know that the Columbine High School shooting and Rachel Joy Scott have played a major role in my life.  I met Heather when I was going though her website.  Her websites deals with the two young boys, Eric and Dylan that did these horrific acts of taking 13 people's lives.  However her site does not deal with the act of what they did, but rather deals with the boys themselves, who they were and celebrates their lives and deals with the good in them rather then the bad they did.  It is a memorial site, and isn't a site that glorifies them or worships them.

I had initially e-mailed her, and we began to talk from there.  We chat on IM. (Instant Messenger)  She is a awesome person.  She's got a sweet spirit, she's fun to talk to and has touched my heart with her joyful and mysterious personality.  She inspires me because she's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and goes against the grain.  I like that in a person, I think that's a awesome quality.

Thank you Heather for touching my heart with your beautiful smile!

Mike and Charlotte
Charlotte is another new friend that I met not to long ago.  Since discovering Rachel and my life changing event of re-dedicating my life to God that took place in Feb. of 2002, I have met so many awesome people because of Rachel.  Thank you Rachel.

I met Charlotte during my visit in Littleton, Colorado.  You can read more about that event on my Rachel page.

She is an awesome person, full of life and energy.  She has blessed my life so much and then some with her beautiful smile, and with her sweet spirit.  She is so much like Rachel, in that Jesus is so evident in her life.  She lives her faith and most importantly let's Jesus live though her.  We enjoy talking on line.  I look forward to seeing her again when I visit Littleton in April of 2003.

Thanks Charlotte for being in my life.

Valerie Haile
Valerie is another friend I met because of Rachel.  I met her on Rachel's message board.  We started e-mailing each other.  She was so helpful to me when I was planning my trip to Littleton Colorado.  I met her for the first time during my visit in Littleton.  She is a sweet heart.  We got to talk and hang out.  She reminds me of Rachel in so many ways though her sweet smile and gentle spirit.  She knew Rachel and was friends with her.  She worked with her on Rachel's last school play, "smoke in the room."

I thank you Val for blessing my life.  You are a true friend. Thank you for being in my life. Your smile and presences makes this world a better place.   I look forward to seeing you again in April '03.  Stay sweet and never change!!  God bless you always

Michael Tamburello
Michael Tamburello
Michael Tamburello is another friend I made in Littleton Colorado.  He is the webmaster for racheljoyscott.com, the official memorial and ministry site for Rachel Joy Scott.  He also produced a CD called Lullaby for Columbine, which is a CD which brings comfort to all who were effected by Columbine.  The CD  has songs which bring hope and healing to the listener.

Michael has such a lively and cheerful spirit.  He made my visit to Littleton even more special.  He is like Rachel he shines for Jesus.  He is someone I look up to for support, encouragement and advice.  He blessed my heart by allowing me to step into Rachel's world.  During my visit my first evening in Littleton, we hung out and showed me Rachel's journals.  This blessed me so much, and because of this, I feel I took a part of Rachel with me.  I feel that part of her lives in my heart because I read what was most dear and precious to her, which was her journals. I will forever be grateful to Michael for this.  Thank you so much Michael

Thank you Michael for being in my life.  You've blessed me more then you know!

Nina Tamburello - Michael's daughter
Nina Tamburello
Lullaby for Columbine was originally called Lullaby for Nina.  Nina is Michael's daughter.  I had the opportunity to meet her in Littleton also.  Michael had written this song for her.  Yet when the Columbine shooting happened and as the events unfolded, they were both shaken to the core by this horrific act of evil.  They wanted to be able to help in someway, to bring comfort to the hurting.  Nina gave up her musical heirloom with a name change to Lullaby for Columbine.  The project which started out as a one song single became a full blown CD, with local and national talent.  It has blessed me time and time again.  So I thank you Nina for this, for blessing my life with your Lullaby and to Michael for writing such ah heavenly piece of music.   It has truly brought me comfort during the times I've felt sad, and down.  It is music from heaven and the song Lullaby for Columbine continues to touch my heart each time I hear it.

Nina is a awesome young girl.  She reminds me of my self, that she's quiet at times, and shy.  It was a honor and a privilege to be able to meet her.

Thank you Nina for making my life a better place, I look forward to seeing you again soon. God bless you!

First Baptist McAllen Singles - Britney, Jeremy, and Jamie
First Baptist Church of McAllen
First Baptist Church of McAllen has been my spiritual life line, it's kept me charged spiritually and has helped feed my spirit and grow in the Lord.  I began attending this church shortly after re-dedicating my life to Jesus.  After going to several churches here in the Valley, and finding them either boring or uncomfortable or both, I found out about FBC though a concert.  I went to this concert they had at the church and then decided to come back again.  I liked this church.  The congregation is on fire for God and the church is simply alive.  Each service I always walk out blessed and refreshed.   I came into contact with Don Macon the singles pastor though Kerrin Sutton and began to get to know a lot of singles at the church.  The singles ministry is awesome.  The people there inspire me and lift my spirits.  I wanted to give a shout out to all the singles, and thank you for excepting me and truly shining for Jesus.  Your presence and friendship is a inspiration to me.   Here are a few people who have richly blessed my life with their presence and friendship and  I want to acknowledge them.

Pastor Bill Sutton - I thank you for your encouraging sermons every week.  You have blessed my heart time and time again.  You are a man after God's own heart, and I thank you for this church.

Don Macon - You are an awesome singles pastor, thank you for being a part of my life and encouraging me every week though race runners.  I appreciate your friendship and thank God that He blessed me with such a awesome friend.

Kerrin and Stephen Sutton - You both are such awesome people and I thank God that he brought you into my life.  You caring hearts and humble attitudes, has been a inspiration to me, as I continue to grow in the Lord.  Thank you both for encouraging me and for blessing me with your presence.

Melissa Duffey - Although I have only talked to you briefly and several times on-line, you are an awesome young lady and friend.  I thank you for being a encouragement to me during my darkest hours of my life when my grandma passed away.  You will never know how special that letter was to me and how much I still and will always cherish this letter.  I pray that my words of encouragement over the past few months when we've talked have helped you out a little bit.  Thank you for your friendship.  I love you in Christ, I'm praying for you.  Keep your heart focused upon Him always!!!!

God bless you First Baptist Church of McAllen!

Pastor David and his wife Jessica of the River At Wilson Church
David pastors the River At Wilson Oklahoma and his wife Jessica is the worship leader there.  This is where my brother Tony and family goes to church.  This church has been an incredible inspiration and blessing to my life. While First Baptist of McAllen is my church at home, this is my church away from home.  God used this church and these two wonderful people to plant a seed in my heart which eventually lead to my re-dedication of my life to God.  I thank God that He brought you both into my life.  I especially thank Jessica for the encouragement and for just being there for me and being my friend.  You are an awesome person, and have made my world all the more brighter, with your beautiful smile, sweet spirit, and heavenly voice.  I love you both so much, and am so thankful to have you in my life.  Keep shining for God. You both are in my prayers always.  God bless you.
